  I've been self sufficient all my life. It's very difficult for me to ask for any help. However, I suffered a freak accident this past fall, was in surgery the next day, and mot allowed to walk or drive for 3 months. I lost my job because of it and used all my savings for living expenses. I also support my 2 children by myself. I now need to move in with my parents because my money has run out. A social worker at the hospital referred me to this charity for my last month's rent. I started calling in October... no one returned my call until after Christmas. Because I am going to move in with my parents next month AND I'm unemployed, they won't help me with this month's rent. They will not accept letters of support from relatives or renting from relatives. Also, they will ask for A LOT of supporting documents and paperwork. I understand at some level, but what they ask for will take weeks to verify and/or provide. I'm sure most people would be evicted by then. It sounds more like a run around than genuine requests...
  
  I am very disappointed and quite shocked to be honest, especially since I requested very finite help. In summary, do not call if you are in a desperate situation, and especially if you need a timely response/assistance. I definitely learned my lesson never to humble myself and ask for help again.
